Do online writing courses scale?

There are good reasons for keeping face-to-face writing classes small, and some of those reasons translate, perhaps, to online writing courses. But, there are also reasons for thinking that online courses benefit from being at least a little larger than conventional classes, even if that might seem like composition blasphemy to suggest!
