Will Richardson @ Cortland Today

Will Richardson will be at SUNY Cortland today. He's giving a presentation in the library at noon and will be meeting with our graduate students later in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to meeting him. My colleague, Karen Stearns, tells me he's a dynamic speaker. I've followed his blog for a couple years, and it has always given me insight into the K-12 world, as well as introduced me to interesting tools and other things.

I'll be looking for my students to take the lead in our conversations, but I am interested in hearing Will's view on a couple issues:

  • The issue of open source vs proprietary applications, particularly in the context of Blackboard's patent activity
  • His vision of where we are going and how quickly
  • What teacher education programs should look like now and in five years, especially in English
